Step out of the dark and on the path to a wonderful career with career counselling in Melbourne
Nobody likes feeling lost or directionless in life. You may feel financially insecure, emotionally unfulfilled or perhaps just plain unmotivated. It’s a bit like stumbling around in the dark. Sadly, this feeling can linger for years if you don’t do anything about it, as you skip between bad jobs or wallow in unemployment…
Regain your bearings with Karen Your Career Coach. I’ll help you identify career options that can bring you happiness and fulfillment. It’s not just about the money, but about what you love and what you’re good at too. I’m going to give you the map and show you how to navigate. With professional career coaching, you’ll find your way out of the dark and into a good career.
It’s never too late to follow your dreams
Whether you’re lacking the qualifications for the job you want or dropped out of high school many years ago, I’ll show you what options are out there. You may be able to take a specialist course or do some paid or voluntary experience to get to where you need to be. Life’s journey doesn’t always follow a straight line. There are many paths to take you where you want to go.
What’s involved exactly?
The career counselling I provide is unique. I’m not here to tell you what to do or what’s good for you. I help you make sense of careers tests, to shed light on your skills, abilities and passions. I give you tools that reveal job or education options, and guide you while you think them through. Then, I give you a hand with all the practical stuff like job apps, resumes and interviews… until you land the job you want to get. We work together while you take charge of your future.

Demystify job search and job applications
Let’s face it, job searching is a skill. Jobs don’t always land in your lap, and searching can feel like you’re in the dark again. Learn job skills from a qualified expert. Unlike your high school career advisor, I’ve studied career development at a tertiary level and I’m a member of two leading career development organisations, CDAA and CEAV. Instead of simply handing you a resumé template, I’m going to show you how to build documents like these from scratch and build on them as your career evolves. My services empower you to pursue your own goals.

Job search skills workshops
My job skills workshops are a thorough way of covering a range of job skills. The groups are small, meaning you get more attention and guidance. You’ll cover things like getting your first job, how to apply for jobs including resumes, cover letters and follow up, and interview practice. You’ll also learn some tips on how to stay focused, organised and motivated. Workshops typically run for 4 sessions over 4 weeks, for 1.5 hours each and are based in Hampton.

Although I’d love to meet you face to face every time, I know that this isn’t always practical. That’s why I provide blended services to suit your needs. If you’re busy or just want to check in with me, I’m here for you for phone or internet appointments. Need a resume checked? Shoot me an email. Want to touch base or ask a question? You can contact me with Skype, Facetime or iMessage.
